Drum roll ...............five novels are on the Miles Franklin Literary Award Shortlist announced today:

Breath by Tim Winton

Ice by Louis Nowra

The Pages by Murray Bail

The Slap by Christos Tsiolkas and

Wanting by Richard Flanagan
