Special Collections of Central West Libraries

The Library provides special information resources in partnership with other organisations. These include:

ABS Publications

The Library is a member of the Australian Bureau of Statistics Library Extension Program and has access to a wide selection of ABS Statistics publications. These statistics cover a broad range of topics including vital (population), social, health, crime, environment, finance, labour force, prices and Census information. Many are now available on the ABS Web site.

Drug Information @ Your Local Library

drug info @ your library provides up to date information about alcohol and drugs on this website and through local public libraries in New South Wales.

Web resources and public library collections are selected and regularly updated by specialist staff at the State Library of New South Wales in consultation with experts in the field.

drug info @ your library (formerly known as di@yll) has been providing accessible drug information to communities through public libraries and the web since 2002. In response to community feedback in 2005 drug info now has a new look, new name, new collections and a new website.

Visit your local library to check out the new drug info @ your library

drug info @ your library is a joint initiative of NSW Health's Community Drug Strategies Branch and the State Library of NSW.

Legal Information Access Centre (LIAC)

As part of a statewide service providing free access to legal information for the community the Library operates the Central West LIAC. Each branch Library holds:

  • A Legal Toolkit - a collection of plain-English books which answer everyday legal questions
  • Copies of Hot Topics - a magazine style series on recent changes and current debates in the law

A more extensive collection of books on the law, Law Books for Libraries, is located at Orange City Library. The legal resources available through the State Library LIAC and the Internet further extend the collection

Cancer Council Collection

The Library is a partner with the Cancer Council of NSW to provide current information on cancer and its treatment and links to support services.

Black Dog Institute

Central West Libraries is working with the Black Dog Institute to offer collections featuring quality information on mood disorders and issues affecting rural communities.
