Central West Libraries Update

Central West Libraries is a regional library service with branches at Blayney, Canowindra, Cowra, Forbes, Manildra, Molong and Orange.

National Simultaneous Storytime Wednesday 22 May 12 noon

Join in at Cowra, Forbes, Manildra, Molong (along with Cabonne Council’s Children’s Services) and Orange City Libraries for an incredible Australia-wide event – National Simultaneous Storytime.

A little birdie told us Blayney Library will be sharing the story on Thursday 23 May at the weekly 11am Storytime.

Everyone will be reading Bowerbird Blues by Australian author and illustrator Aura Parker!!! on the same day, at the same time across Australia!

This lyrical story follows the journey of a bowerbird on his quest for all things blue, all the while feeling that something is amiss in his life. The bowerbird’s collection dominated by plastic caps, straws and tags invites reflection on environmental pollution and its challenges.

We will all be sharing the story on Wednesday 22 May at 12 noon!! All welcome – come along.

Banjo Paterson Writing Awards Now Closed

Entries into the Banjo Paterson Writing Awards have now closed. Winners will be notified by phone on Wednesday 19 June and formally announced at the Orange Readers and Writers Festival on Saturday 3 August 2024.

Previous winning entries can be found at Central West Libraries’ online resource Recollect https://centralwest.recollect.net.au/ for inspiration.

The awards are supported by Orange City Council, ABC Central West, and the Central Western Daily newspaper.

The next call for entries will be on the anniversary of Banjo Paterson’s birthday 17 February 2025.
