Last week at the Blayney Show the Blayney Birth to Kinder reading group had a stall promoting the importance of reading to children in this age group. The stall consisted of a tent filled with cushions and picture books. Staff at this stall read to children throughout the day and sample bags were provided to children and their parents containing information on literacy, storytime at the library, reading to young children as well as bookmarks and wristbands. This tent provided a wonderful area that children and their carers were able to sit and relax for a short while during a fun filled day at the show and read themselves or have someone read to them. There were also lucky door prizes of books, drawn at the end of the day for some lucky children who had visited the stall. It was a fun day and thank you to everyone who came along.
