Storytime at Home
with Fiona the Storyteller
Clancy and his parents have moved into a new house. Clancy’s mum thinks the new house is better – the best house. But Clancy misses his old home; the cubby house under the table, the crackly fireplace, the moon through the skylight.
Clancy finds a pile of moving boxes outside, and his new neighbour Millie appears just in time to help him make his own special cosy space – a very fine house.
Clancy and Millie and the Very Fine House is written by Libby Gleeson and illustrated by Freya Blackwood. Used with kind permission from Little Hare Books.
Storytime Activity
Clancy and Millie use moving boxes to create all kinds of things – a tower, a train, and a very fine dwelling indeed. Today in Storytime craft, we are building box houses, small enough for your toys to visit or live in. If you have a very large box, perhaps you could make a box house big enough to sit inside with a pillow, a cuddly toy and a good book.
If you’re walking past Orange Library and look very carefully through the windows, you just might spy the recycled box village in our children’s area.
