This year marks 160 years since Andrew Barton ‘Banjo’ Paterson was born at Narrambla, Orange and Central West Libraries announces the call for entries in the 2024 Banjo Paterson Writing Awards on his birthday, Saturday 17 February. Established in 1991, the awards honour Banjo, acknowledged as a great writer and favourite son of Orange, with a competition encouraging Australian content. However, entries do not have to be written in Banjo’s style of bush writing.
Enter the 2024 Banjo Paterson Writing Awards. The categories are:
Short Story: $2,000 First Prize
Contemporary Poetry: $2,000 First Prize
ABC Radio Central West Children’s Writing: First Prize $200, Second Prize $100 and Third Prize $100.
Adult Entry Fee $15, Children Entry Fee $5.
Entries are due Friday 10 May 2024 at 5pm. They can be emailed to: [email protected] or posted to Banjo Paterson Writing Awards, PO Box 194, Orange NSW 2800.
