At 11 am sharp an eager collection of preschoolers listened to Too Many Elephants in the House by Ursula Dubosarsky, pictures by Andrew Joyner, read by Cowra Library Assistant Maryanne. Elephant puppet and walk by Caroline.
After sitting attentively the children expertly coloured in elephant finger puppets – the girls painting the elephant toenails in a colour range that Revlon would be proud of and then applied their cutting skills to make a finger hole for the trunk.
They joined in a heavy footed elephant walk and a trumpeting greeting to everyone in Cowra Library. Then took a quiet look at the range of touchy- feely hard covered books available for loan- one of which featured elephants.
The best part of the morning was the elephant talk amongst the kiddies – this is what literacy activities are all about. And the little ones who wanted to borrow books!! They’ve promised they’ll all come back with their families to borrow the beautiful books they saw in the Library.
Sounds like everyone had a great time. And who doesn’t love an elephant in whatever form it appears.
Well done.
