Good news… Orange Purlers will continue to meet at Orange City Library every Thursday at 10.30am to continue their great work knitting, crocheting and sewing squares into rugs for the Wrap With Love charity. The completed rugs are sent around the world to help people in need. Orange City Library staff hosted a morning tea this week to thank all the volunteers with their efforts so far… and to announce the continuation of the project right throughout the year. Last year we sent off 195 completed rugs and about 416 squares – so a total of 6,000 squares. This year were have already sent off 170 completed rugs, we have 36 in the Library and we have just packed up another 16 bags of rugs for delivery. So we are well on the way to increasing the number of rugs donated.
Librarian Trudi also thanked Orange North Rotary members Michael Horth and Peter Boyd for their efforts in delivering the rugs to the Wrap With Love drop off point.
Special guest from ABC Local Radio Brooke Daniels also delivered rugs from groups she has visited in Grenfell, Eugowra, Molong, Parkes and Condo Knitters. She praised everyone’s efforts in meeting all year round to knit as well as chatting, nattering and solving the world’s problems and thanked everyone for their wonderful contribution.
